Instructor: Contemporary
Emily grew up in Penticton, BC where she trained at Okanagan Dance Studios and spent summers dancing at programs such as the Goh Ballet, Arts Umbrella and LAUNCH in Portland. Upon graduation, Emily was accepted into the pre-professional training program at Alonzo King LINES Ballet in San Francisco.
Contemporary styles became a strong focus for her after working with Alonzo King himself, and being featured in new works choreographed by Maurya Kerr, Iratxe Ansa, and Sidra Bell to name a few. Emily had the opportunity to teach the National Canadian Women’s hockey team, cross-training in dance leading up to the Sochi Olympics. In Vancouver, she has apprenticed with the Response Dance Company and has taught at various local studios.
Emily’s choreographic work has been featured on her dancers with titles including Provincial winner, runner-up and nominee. She can be seen in Kit and Ace’s most recent dance campaign photo shoot. Emily is delighted to be returning to The Dance Gallery for a 4th season.
